Kompany praises Leverkusen as the best team he has faced.
Vincent Kompany is hoping for a different result from his first meeting with Leverkusen this season ahead of the two teams’ DFB-Pokal last-16 clash football.
Bayern Munich coach Vincent Kompany hailed Xavier Alonso’s Leverkusen as the best team. He has faced this season after their 1-1 draw in the Bundesliga on September 28. But the Bavarians boss expects a different outcome. When the two sides meet in the DFB-Pokal on Tuesday, Sky Germany reported on Monday. UFABET
‘We have faced almost every team in the league, Leverkusen is one of the best, they have a very good forward line, they can defend deep and they did that against us in the league. I don’t know if they will cope with the game the same way. I hope we will play to our strengths tomorrow and focus on ourselves no matter how Leverkusen plays,’ Kompany said.
Kompany knows many see this as a battle between two of Europe’s best young coaches.
But the Bavarians boss believes their backgrounds mean they have different coaching styles.
‘There are two options: either you are a player and become a coach, or you decide early on to become a coach. You cannot underestimate the amount of work you have to do to make the transition from player to coach. Time management is completely different. I try to use a lot of software, analyse games and keep myself afloat.’
‘The result of being here is the result of hard work. I have benefited from the experience of being a leader as a player. Everyone has to start at some point, but the most important thing is hard work.’
‘As a player, I was far away from Xabi Alonso on the pitch because I was a defender. As a player, he always had a pass for his teammates, no matter how far away. He had an incredible pass. But now we are coaches and we live for this job. ‘
‘The game against Dortmund, it was against Nuri Şahin, now against Xabi Alonso, I think he will pass on his experience to his players because he knows the game very well. You can look at the last 10-15 games against Leverkusen, they are a team that can press very high, they are very aggressive and compact. ‘
‘In the first half of the season they played very compact and flexible in their system. They changed very quickly. We have to be attentive and bring our strengths to the pitch,’ Kompany said.
